With the generous support of TS Burstow the 2009
Toowoomba Eisteddfod will feature a major operatic competition on Saturday
9 May at 7.00 pm.
Heats: Saturday 9 May 12.30 pm
To be eligible, competitors must enter Section 25
(Operatic Aria), Section 26 (Art Song) and Section 27 (Oratorio Solo or
Solo Cantata) to be held on Saturday 9 May. The
competitor gaining the highest aggregate points in these
Sections will be awarded the FG Chamberlin Memorial Trophy.
The six highest ranking performers from these three
Sections will be eligible to compete in the Opera Gala.
The Opera Gala Competition

Six competitors
·
Two contrasting arias (one of which may be the aria
performed in Section 25)
·
Time limit: performance time limit 10 minutes
·
Arias must be in different languages
·
Performers must provide own accompanist

Judging Criteria
Adjudicators will assess each competitor with the following criteria:-
1.
Potential
for future professional development within the operatic vocal industry
2.
Personality
/ artistic ability
3.
Vocal
potential / ability
